News from the IHT Luxury Conference

This year’s IHT Luxury Conference hailed social networking sites and online shops as saviours of the fashion industry.

Creative director of Burberry started the conference with a talk on how social media had helped his label. He explained how his new interactive website lets users upload pictures of themselves wearing Burberry coats and also lets them browse through the pictures using different filters.

More and more designers are turning to the internet and interactive sites such as these as well as Facebook in order to promote their brand.

Also announced at the event was that Mercedes Benz are sponsoring London Fashion Week and Claudia Schiffer is designing her own cashmere line.
